Mortgage Collections Specialist

This is a part-time position and can be located in either Oxford or Farmington Hills, MI.
Job Summary
Resolution of past due loan accounts via effective communications with customers
Essential Responsibilities
Cures past due conditions with customers via telephone, mail, or personal contacts by collecting sufficient payment amounts
Performs various functions associated with insurance claims, bankruptcy, loan settlements & refinances, payment extensions, and repossessions
Manages the mortgage foreclosure process, including ordering title work & appraisals and oversight & sale of ORE properties under the direction of the Collection Supervisor
Directs collateral liquidation activities including litigation, foreclosure and repossession
Trains and oversees collection support staff.
Interacts with law enforcement agencies and courts
Responsible for continuing education and remaining current in banking laws and regulations pertinent to position and function
Provides oversight of department functions in absence of Supervisor
Maintains and submits various reports to Senior Management and the Board of Directors
Job Qualifications
Some college or specialized training perferred
Two to four years collection experience perferred
Collections and loss prevention training preferred
Strong analytical ability, logic and judgment to communicate and resolve collection issues
Ability to identify customer needs and provide solutions
Must maintain a detail-oriented, investigative, and independent working ability
Superior presentation, interpersonal, leadership, relationship building, and organization skills? Must be a highly motivated self starter
Strong interest in working as part of a team
Familiar with appropriate Bank collection policies & procedures
Familiar with State and Federal collection laws & statutes
Must be punctual and maintain scheduled attendance
Technical Skills
Knowledge and experience with bank computer and operating system requirements
Proficient PC skills to include working knowledge of MS Office applications such as Word and Excel; e-mail
Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse population of customers, agencies and employees both verbally and in writing

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
