Peer Support Specialist

Job Description

Part of a multi-disciplined team that provides community-based services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness and/or developmental disabilities. As a member of this team, the Peer Support Specialist assists consumers in building trust and rapport with service providers; develop understanding and management of their illness and symptoms, link with natural and community supports. Must have valid Michigan driver's license/good driving record. High School Diploma or GED required as well as having received community mental health services as a primary consumer.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
